Gutter Clearing Services

Description and Process

We offer a professional gutter clearing service that focuses on the critical maintenance task of removing all blockages from your rain-carrying system—the horizontal gutters and the vertical downpipes (or downspouts). Blocked gutters are a serious threat to your property’s integrity, as they can prevent rainwater from being channeled safely away from your roof and foundation.

The clearing process utilizes modern, safe, and efficient techniques, often done from the safety of the ground:

  1. High-Reach Inspection: At ACP we use high-powered equipment, such as a specialist Gutter Vacuum (or “SkyVac”) system with a telescopic pole. This tool allows for safe access to gutters up to several storeys high, eliminating the need for hazardous ladder, or work on high or tricky-to-reach areas, such as over conservatories or difficult to access areas.
  2. Debris Removal: The powerful vacuum is used to safely and completely suck up all accumulated debris, including leaves, moss, twigs, mud, and stagnant water, directly into a containment unit. This ensures a mess-free process, with no debris dropped onto your grounds.
  3. Downpipe Clearance: Downpipes are also checked and cleared. If a blockage is detected, we will use specialist tools like a flexible snake or high-powered water jet to unblock them, ensuring a free flow of water down to the ground drain.
  4. Final Flow Check & Inspection: After clearing, a final inspection is performed to confirm the system is completely clear and water can flow freely.

The Clear and Functioning Results

The primary result of professional gutter clearing is a fully operational and clean drainage system. This vital maintenance provides numerous protective benefits:

Extended Lifespan: Regular clearing prevents heavy, waterlogged debris from putting excessive strain on the gutter fixtures, stopping them from sagging, cracking, or pulling away from your property, thereby prolonging the lifespan of your entire guttering system.

Structural Protection: By allowing water to flow away from the structure, you prevent overflow that can cause damp to penetrate your brickwork, rot your fascia boards and soffits, and lead to costly water damage inside the home (e.g., ceilings, walls).

Foundation Preservation: Clear gutters ensure rainwater is directed away from your home’s foundation, mitigating the risk of soil erosion, which can weaken the foundation and lead to structural cracking.

Pest and Mould Prevention: Removing stagnant water and organic debris eliminates the perfect breeding ground for insects like mosquitoes, as well as rodents and destructive mould or mildew.
